Halloween Party Decorations: How to Haunt Your House In Sinister Style

Your upcoming event will be pretty bland without some awesome Halloween party decorations to spruce it up. Starting with outdoor ambience as your guests enter to the interior decor, how you decorate will make an big impact on your Halloween party.

Many people just throw up some general Halloween party supply decorations and that will suffice. However, if you really want to add some pizazz and punch to get your guests into the right mood, it helps to plan your party around a specific theme.

For example, if you are fascinated with ghosts, then choose the right decorations that will turn your house into a "haunted mansion" complete with moving ghostly images, creaking sounds, and eerie "abandoned house" decor. Love pumpkin carving? Then work your Halloween party decorations around cool pumpkin carvings, orange colors, and pumpkin related treats. I'm sure you get the idea.

I remember at one Halloween party that I had in which I took cheap black plastic garbage bags, opened them up flat and taped them together so that they would cover the entire dining room (I even did the ceiling). I then randomly cut out eye holes and taped florescent yellow paper behind the cut outs and colored in black pupils. With a black light in the room, this inexpensive decor idea was very effective.

Another low cost idea is to use the cobweb material that you pull apart. And that's the big trick with this stuff if you want to create "realistic" cobwebs; take a section of the webbing and gently pull it in all directions until you get a thin layer. Then drape it over lamps (be careful not to get it on the light bulbs), tape it across doorways, lay it along the front of tables, and use it on other objects. You'll most likely need to tape corners down or get them hooked over something so they'll stay put. Stretch them out so that they really do look like cobwebs. The biggest drawback to this stuff is having to pick it all up after your party. But the good news is that it's reusable, so just pack it away until next year.

Keep in mind, the decorations that you'll be choosing for children should be mild and fun, whereas with adults, you are more likely to decorate with a sinister flare.
