Halloween Howl - Halloween Fun For The Whole Family

Spider Games: Activities For Eight-Legged Creatures

If you have decided to go with a spider themed Halloween party, you'll need to organize some Halloween spider-type games to keep guests entertained.

At a children's party, having simple games to play is very important, not only to keep the kid's occupied, but as a sanity-saver for the adults that are supervising. Therefore, I've put together several ideas that you can use as diversions to help the kids burn off energy... and have loads of fun.

You can also incorporate a few of these ideas as ice breakers and fun activities for an adult party too. After all, aren't we all "kids at heart"?

Pin The Spider On The Web

Make a large web pattern on poster board. Hang up on the wall. Using a large rubber spider (about 3 to 4 inches in diameter), add some doublesided tape to its belly. Play the game like you would "Pin the Tail on the Donkey."

Spider Trivia

This is geared more for teen and adult parties. Create a trivia game and see how many know the answers. Give each guest a sheet of paper and pen to write down their answers. After you're finished asking the questions, get the guests to exchange their answers with another person. As you read off the correct answers, each quest will check off right or wrong on the paper that they're marking. Hand back the papers and see which person had the most answers correct. Hand out a prize to the top three winner.

Spider Ring Toss

  • Papermache spider body (use 2 balloons to form body)
  • Paints
  • 8 Bendable wire pieces for legs
  • 2 small styrofoam balls
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • 3 wire, rubber or wooden rings

Make a spider out of balloons and papermache. Paint the body and add on some painted eyes. Glue 8 good-size wire "legs" onto the body (poke them into the hardend shell and glue in place). Bend the legs down to the floor, then bend a small section up to form a post to toss rings onto. Insert and glue painted styrofoam balls over the ends of the legs (to prevent any accidental pokes when retrieving the rings). Place the spider on the floor, mark off an area a few feet back as the "standing line". Give guests 3 rings to toss to try to "ring" the spider legs.
