Halloween Yard Decorations For Chills and ThrillsNothing ushers in a creepy Halloween like a spooky, haunted looking house. Thrill trick-or-treaters or party guests by transforming your front yard into a ghoulish graveyard with these outdoor Halloween yard decorations
Add a Graveyard Allow the grass in your yard to grow somewhat long and don't rake the leaves. Make some tombstones from boxes or purchase ready-made foam/plastic tombstones and place 4 or 5 (in varying sizes) in one corner of your yard. Make a short, broken picket-fence to surround a portion of the "graveyard". Add a few cobwebs as well. We also have a nice listing of twisted and humorous tombstone names and engaging Halloween epitaths that you can use. If you really want to scare your visitors, place parts of a skeleton or zombie figure that looks like it's trying to escape its grave. Terrifying Trees Turn your ordinary tree into a haunted tree! Add glowing eyes or facial features made from bark to the tree trunk. Attach some hanging bats to the branches as well so they are ready to swoop down upon their victims. Something's Staring At You Thick bushes are a perfect spot to add glowing eyes. You can make your own with glowing paints or purchase glow eyes and secure them within the branches of a low bush. If you search around, you may be able to find some that blink! Glowing Rocks & Signs Take some ordinary, fairly large rocks and using florescent paint, write warnings on them such as "Beware", "Do Not Enter", "Go Back", etc. You can also purchase or make your own creepy signs from old, worn wooden planks. Front Door Frights Be sure to add special effects to your front door as well. Replace the lightbulb in your front light with a black light or colored lightbulb. Add cobwebs from the light, mailbox and across the doorway. You could also place a spooky door knocker on your front door. Add a sinister figure or a skeleton nearby on a chair - and of course, place jack-o-lanterns with wickedly carved faces throughout area. |
