Halloween Howl - Halloween Fun For The Whole Family

Halloween Scrapbooking Ideas

Pull out the paper and scissors! There are plenty of Halloween scrapbooking ideas available to help show off your best Halloween photos, whether you choose to create large 12x12 scrapbook pages or unique mini-scrapbook albums. Not only can you put together some spooktacular Halloween scrapbook pages, why not try your hand at putting together a unique accordion mini-book or photo collage to give as gifts to your family and friends?

>One thing to remember when you pick up any sort of scrapbooking supplies is to make sure that they are acid free... and that includes glues, markers, stickers, and other embellishments.

If you wish to use other materials (such as postcards, ticket stubs from a Halloween attraction, graphics you may have printed out, fabrics, and other non-scrapbooking specific materials) be sure to spray them first with acid neutralizer. This spray raises the pH level of acidic papers and slows the aging process, which is very important if you want to preserve your Halloween scrapbook pages.

Basic Halloween Scrapbooking Ideas For Creating Pages

First, of course, you have your regular 12x12 inch and 8 1/2 x 11 inch scrapbook pages that most scrap-bookers create. These are a perfect way to include multiple photos on a page and give you lots of space to add embellishments and journaling. These type of pages can be created either through regular hands-on crafting or by digital scrapbooking. Here are a few layouts that I've put together digitally that you can try for yourself (these can also be created using paper and scissors):

Create An Accordion Style Origami Halloween Miniature Scrapbook Album

So, what exactly is an accordion scrapbook album? It's a book you put together using just folded pieces of square scrapbooking paper which are then "hinged" together. The book folds up just like an accordion (think fan style). It's also referred to as an origami albmum.

It generally contains six to ten pages, with the finished size of each page being either 6" x 6" (the result of using 12" x 12" sheets) or 3" x 3" (the result of using 6" x 6" sheets - just cut a 12 x 12 sheet into quarters). The only thing to remember is that you must have an even number of these pages so that you'll end up with a front and back cover.

When I first learned this technique I was hooked! As far as Halloween scrapbooking ideas go, this was a perfect solution for putting those few photos I took each of my kids before they headed out the door to gather their goodies.

The first accordion scrapbook I put together took me about an hour and a half to put together. It was a six page book and I used 12" x 12" sheets of scrapbook paper (for a 6x6 finished album size).

Because they are so much smaller than a regular sized scrapbooking page, you will be using only one photo and less embellishments. While there's not a whole lot of room for journaling on the page itself, you can actually use the opposite page for your journal entries instead, if desired.

This is a wonderful way to use up those random Halloween photos you may have lying around, and it's a perfect solution for showcasing photos of the best decorated houses in your neighborhood or even your expert pumpkin carving creations!

Since it's easier to watch a video on how to make these rather than looking at numerous photo graphics, I've posted part 1 and part 2 of the videos that I myself watched to learn this technique. This lady gives excellent instructions and you'll see how easy this process is. Just substitute Halloween scrapbook paper in place of the floral ones that are featured here. Enjoy!

Dimensional Diamond Fold Scrapbook

Want some more Halloween scrapbooking ideas? Then check out this Dimensional Diamond Fold pattern that uses as many pieces of paper as you desire (depending on how large you want your book to be). It's an interesting techinque that you can use for making a mini album with a few simple paper folds. What's also great about this scrapbooking project is that you can decorate and embellish both sides of the "book" once it's done. I think this is a great idea to use for Halloween scrapbook pages. Watch the video that follows to see how this is created.

I've come across so many different ways to create Halloween scrapbook albums that trying to put them all onto one web page would be crazy. Therefore, I've split this article up and you can check out the remaining Halloween Scrapbooking Ideas: Part 2 here.
