After all, if left to their own devices, you know how mischievous those disembodied spirits can get! And be sure to have plenty of prizes and favors to hand out too. It keeps the poltergeists happy!
Ghost Word SearchWord puzzle games are a wonderful way to keep early guests occupied while waiting for others to arrive. As an alternative, you can also wait until a lull in the party happens, then hand out the puzzle and time guests on how long it takes them to complete it. The first one done gets a prize. These also make nice additions to favor bags for older kids.Halloween Howl has created a Ghost Word Search Puzzle in PDF format which you can save to your computer and print out AND we've also provided the puzzle solution for you in this second PDF, so be sure to grab both to them. Just RIGHT click on the links above and save the files to your computer. If you accidentally open them by left clicking, just click on the disk icon in the top left corner of the screen to save. (Please make sure that you have Adobe Reader installed on your machine. Most people have it already, but if you don't or need to update your version, click here. Spooky Twists and TurnsI came across this great "Twister®" game at the Better Homes and Garden site called Twist and Turn Game. Rather than trying to explain how to create this myself, I'll just let you follow their directions. This is a great game idea for all children (including the large "grown-up" ones!)Did You See That Ghost? This is a fun eye trick that kids especially enjoy. Draw a ghost on a large piece of white construction paper using a black crayon, marker or paint. Color the entire ghost black except leave the eyes and mouth white. Hang the paper on a plain wall then have your guests stare at the white mouth of the ghost for 1 minute. Now have them look at a plain white wall or the ceiling. They will start to see the ghost appear and disappear right in front of their eyes! (If you don't have a white wall to use, cover one in a white sheet).Let's Go Ghost Hunting! For this game you'll need several round lollipops covered in white material (use elastics to tie the "necks" onto the stick). Use a black marker to make a ghost face on one side of the lollipop, then print a letter on the other side. When several lollipops are put together they'll spell a word. As you'll be dividing the kids up into teams, be sure you have two or three sets of words selected with the correct letters printed on the lollipops. For example, one team will be sent out to find the lollipops with the letters: G H O S T. A second team may be searching for the letters: S P O O K Y. Next, hide the lollipops in various places, but keep the teams going in different directions. So, for example, your GHOST lollipops may be hidden around the front yard, while your SPOOKY ones are in the backyard. This way children aren't picking up the wrong letters. Now, make note of where each letter is hidden and write up clues for each one that the teams will use to find their lollipop ghosts. An example of a clue might be: When it's daylight outside, I hide under a yellow flower bush. Once each of the ghosts are found by a team, get them to figure out what the word is that the letters spell. Then hand back the ghost lollipops as their reward. Note: Always keep a few extras on hand so that you're sure every child gets one. If you're having a larger event (like a school fundraiser or corporate event... or just a really big Halloween party), find out how to put together an amazing scavenger hunt that will ensure an unforgettable party.
