Halloween Howl - Halloween Fun For The Whole Family

Make Your Own Fortune Teller Party Favors

Present your Halloween guests with fortune teller party favors and game prizes in keeping with a Fortune Teller Party theme. Basically, anything related to stars, moons, the zodiac, or items decorated in a magical or mystical way would be appropriate. Here are some craft ideas that are simple to put together.

Star Bright Candles (Adults)

Materials Needed:

Taper Candles (black, deep purple or dark blue)
    Glue
    Gold or shimmering purple ribbon
Star stickers (or zodiac stickers) or cut outs of stars/moons/sun/zodiac symbols

Instructions:

Glue the stickers or cutouts along the bottom 1/3 of each candle. Tie two candles together with the ribbon.

Paper Fortune Teller (Children and Adults)

I remember making these as a kid - usually for telling our future about boys that we were interested in. These are super fun to play with and both adults and children will get a kick out of them.

Instructions:

As these take a bit of instruction on how to fold the paper (this is essentially an origami paper folding technique), I've created a separate page to show you how to make a paper fortune teller.

Mystical Box of Treats (Children)

Not surprising, children love anything that is mystical and magical. Therefore, creating a mystical box of treats will certainly delight them.

Materials Needed:

Small favor boxes (if possible, get them in black, dark blue, or dark purple)
Paint in the above colors if you can't find boxes
    Paintbrush
Glittery star stickers or glitter markers/paints and a star template
    Gold, glittery ribbon
    "Magical" items for favors

Instructions:

If you can't find colored boxes, then paint white boxes in either black, dark blue or dark purple. Add glittery stars, moons, and sun symbols for decoration. Fill the box with items such as cheap Mood rings, miniature card decks, silly putty, gold foil chocolate coins, etc. Close the box and decorate with the ribbon to finish off these mystical fortune teller party favors.

Zodiac Constellations (Adults)

This is a really interesting keepsake to make as your fortune teller party favors that I'm sure your guests will find quite unique.

Materials Needed:

    Glow in the dark stars
    Book on Zodiac Constellations
    Gold Marker
Shiny stiff black paper or black cardboard cut into 8" x 10" pieces

Instructions:

Glow Moon and Stars

    1. You will need to find out the Zodiac sign of each of your guests before the party. You can also pick up a book on the constellations at the library.

    2. Place the stars on the black paper according to the picture in the book related to each guest's zodiac sign.

    3. Write the name of the zodiac sign along the bottom with the gold marker.

    4. If desired, also right the person's name below it and draw the zodiac symbol for the sign on either side of the name (see Zany Zodiac game for symbols.) Your guests can take these personalized constellations home and frame them if they wish.

Star Candle Pots (Adults)

Materials:

    2" Terra cotta pots
Black, midnight blue or gold paints
Star, moon and/or sun stickers or graphic cutouts
    Glue and paint brushes
    Votive candles
    Acrylic sealer

Instructions:

    1. Paint the pots inside and out with paint. Glue on stickers or graphics around the outside of the pots.

    2. Seal inside and out with acrylic sealer. Let dry.

    3. Place votive candle inside and hand out as favors or prizes.
