Craft Your Own Fortune Teller Party DecorationsA great theme for a Halloween get-together is a fortune teller party. Your decor will focus around beaded doorways, gauzy scarves draped about the room, candles, and other such "gypsy" items to help create the ambience to the theme.
The Twinkle of Gold Stars and Glowing Moons
1. Copy, enlarge, and cut out several of the template shapes shown below from cardboard. 2. Cover one side of a shape with glue and carefully glue the gold paper to it. Trim the foil to the cardboard edges. Spread glue on the other side of the cardboard and once again, glue your paper to it. Trim. 3. Punch out a hole at one end and tie a length of thread through the hole. Hang from the ceiling.
Starry Night CandlesMaterials:1. Clean the votive holders and/or glasses and dry thoroughly. 2. Follow the directions on the gold colored glass paint and paint stars, moons and spiral swirls on the glass holders. 3. Place the votive candles or tea lights within the holders and place in groupings around the room. Mystical Crystal Ball
1. Fill the bowl or bucket about ½ full with water. Dribble a string of paint around the surface of the water with the blue, purple and gold paints. 2. Hold the end of the light bulb, and carefully dip it into the water. Slowly twirl it around so the paint swirls around the light bulb. Remove from the water. Place the light bulb in a glass or some other container to hold it off the counter until it dries. 3. Paint the outside of the cardboard box black (this is your base to hold the "crystal ball." Decorate in gold if you wish. If you are using a large light bulb (rather than a globe cover), cut a hole in the center of the box to slide the metal party of the bulb into. 4. Once the bulb is dry, put a thin line of glue along the top edge of the base and place the bulb on it (part of the bulb should slip down inside to "cradle" the bulb). Let the glue dry. Voila! A crystal ball to impress your guests with your "gazing" powers. Magical TableclothsMaterials Needed: 1. Cut material if needed to fit over tables. Make sure the front hangs down to the floor. Draw stars, moons and suns all over the material using a gold fabric pen. You may wish to cover all of your tables with "magical tablecloths" or just a couple that will serve as focal points (such as a food table or one where someone is telling fortunes.) 2. If desired, use gold star confetti and sprinkle it on top each table. 3. Another quick way of creating a "magical table" is to drape gossamer material in a black, dark blue or deep purple color over a round table. String white twinkle lights under the table so that they shine through the material. Midnight MuralMaterials Needed:1. Sew strips of material together to make an 8' x 8' square or larger if you wish. (Alternatively, tape the garbage bags together on one side only. 2. Using the book as a reference, draw various constellations on the material using the glow-in-the-dark markers or paints. If desired, use can use stickers of glow-in-the-dark stars/moons instead. 3. Hang the mural on a wall. Have guests see if they can guess the different constellations in the "midnight sky". Another option is to tack this up to the ceiling. Additional Fortune Teller Party Decorating Ideas
