Halloween Howl - Halloween Fun For The Whole Family

Halloween Party Favors For Kids

by Rose Smith

The guests have all arrived and your child's first hosted Halloween party is in full swing. Kids giggle and screech with laughter over the creepy decorations and fiendishly fun games. The table is a Frankenstein's feast, loaded with ghoulish delights to tickle any child's fancy. Everything is going great...until it's time for the guests to go home.

Do you have the Halloween favors to hand out? Young children usually expect to recieve some sort of party favor. They've been conditioned to expect this from all the birthday parties they attend and a Halloween party is no exception. You don't want to be known as the "uncool" and "clueless" Mom and Dad of the block. So...are you prepared?

Sure you could throw some candy and a plastic spider ring into a Hallowen treat bag, but why not elevate your potential "uncoolness" to "awesome" status by taking the time to plan and make some fun and unique Halloween favors yourself?

Halloween Frisbee's

Items needed:

Orange and black Frisbee's
round CD labels, halloween graphics
a software program to manipulate graphics and text

Work with the Halloween graphic to get it to the right size so it prints on the CD label fully. Add text, such as "Happy Halloween", maybe the child's name that will receive the favor or anything else that you wish to have on it. Print the graphic onto the round CD label and stick it to the center of the Frisbee to make a personalized Halloween Frisbee favor for each guest.

Halloween Chocolate Candy Pops

Items needed:

White and milk chocolate
food dye (for chocolate)
lollipop sticks, cooking pots
chocolate thermometer
orange cellophane wrapping
orange and black curly riboon
a variety of Halloween chocolate molds

The following chocolate candy molds are available through Amazon.com:

Make 2 or 3 different chocolate candy pops per child. Wrap each chocolate individually in orange cellophane wrap. Tie the pops together in a "bouquet" with black and orange curly ribbon. If you don't know how to correctly melt chocolate for candy molds, there are many excellent candy cookbooks that can be borrowed from the library. You can also find some great tips on the Internet as well.
